On Thursday, July 30th Rooftop Films will be showing TROLL 2 on the lawn of the Automotive High School in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Then on Friday, July 31st, the New York premiere of BEST WORST MOVIE, a new documentary on the legacy of Troll 2, at the same location. Finally, on Saturday, August 1st INDUSTRIANCE ALLIANCE SHORTS on the roof of the Old American Can Factory in Park Slope/Gowanus, Brooklyn. Here is some more information:

One $11 ticket gets you admission to see the legendary Troll 2 (the worst movie ever made) on Thursday AND admission to see the documentary Best Worst Movie on Friday night.

‘The Photograph’, a film from Indonesia, part of the prestigious 2009 Global Lens Film Series, will screen at Home Theatre Gallery at 8:00pm- Saturday, August 8. Tickets are $10 at the door, but members of the Gasparilla International Film Festival may attend free.  Beer and wine will be served!

Synopsis
Sita is a spirited young woman working to support her family as a singer and prostitute in a local brothel. Always short of funds and bullied by her pimp, she convinces an elderly portrait photographer, Mr. Johan, to rent her a room; in failing health, Mr. Johan is desperate to find an apprentice to carry on his work before he dies. The unlikely bond that develops between Sita and Mr. Johan is the basis of writer-director Nan Achnas’s visually brilliant and poignant human drama about the profound effect one life can have on another.

About the Director
Nan Achnas was born in Singapore in 1963. She holds a masters degree in Film Studies from the University of East Anglia, UK. As a documentary filmmaker, her work has screened at festivals worldwide, and her narrative work includes the FIPRESCI award-winning Whispering Sands and The Flag. She currently teaches Cinema Studies and Directing at the Jakarta Institute of the Arts. The Photograph is her fourth feature film.

The Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center will screen “Milton Glaser: To Inform and Delight,” a documentary directed by Wendy Keys, on Tuesday, July 7, Wednesday, July 8, and Thursday, July 9, at 8 p.m. as part of its “Finest in World Cinema” series.

Directed by first-time filmmaker Wendy Keys, the documentary captures everyday moments of Mr. Glaser’s personal life, capturing his warmth, humanity, intelligence and creativity.
