‘My Time Will Come’, a film from Ecuador, part of the prestigious 2009 Global Lens Film Series, will screen at Tampa Pitcher Show at 2:00pm- Sunday, August 30. Tickets are only $5 at the door, but members of the Gasparilla International Film Festival may attend free. Tampa Pitcher show offers beer and wine and great food!

Rooftop Films will present the U.S. Premiere of ROCK HEART BEIJING outdoors on the roof of The Old American Can Factory on August 21st. The debut feature film from Karen Winther is a global, political, rock n’ roll doc about the dynamic Chinese punk band Subs, following them from their homeland to their first European tour. The filmmaker is traveling from Norway and will be there for the film and for a Q and A after the screening.
Skeleton Breath (www.myspace.com/skeletonbreath) will perform live on the roof before the film and after the Q and A there will be an outdoor reception in the courtyard, featuring free Sangria courtesy of Carlo Rossi.

Rooftop Films will present the documentaries Bronx Princess and Nora outdoors in Mullaly Park in the Bronx on Saturday, August 29. In Bronx Princess, directed by Yoni Brook, 17-year-old Rocky leaves behind her mother in New York City to reunite with her father, a chief in Ghana. Nora, directed by David Hinton, is based on true stories of the Zimbabwean dancer Nora Chipaumire, who returns to the landscape of her childhood and uses dance to journey through the vivid memories of her youth.

There will be live music performances prior to the films and a filmmaker Q and A following the screening.

Rooftop Films will present the New York Premiere of St. Nick on Friday, August 28. David Lowery’s debut feature is a pre-teen Badlands, a lush and visceral young American drifter tragedy. Astonishing imagery, evocative soundscapes, heartbreakingly smart and subtle performances, and a story that reveRooftop Films als layer after layer of complexity form a masterpiece of introspection and exploration. St. Nick premiered at SXSW and received overwhelming praise.
There will be live music performance by Cameron Hull prior to the film and a filmmaker Q and A following the screening with director David Lowery, producer James M. Johnston, and cinematographer Clay Lifford. After the Q and A there will be a reception outdoors in the courtyard, featuring complimentary sangria courtesy of Carlo Rossi.
