In partnership with KETC Channel 9, the Missouri Historical Society sheds light on impact of drugs and race in a community today (Thurs., Jan. 8 ) with a special screening of Tulia, Texas.

The film shows a lone undercover cop moves into a small farming town. By the end of the blazing summer of 1999, 46 people are arrested for selling cocaine–nearly all of them African American. It was heralded as one of the biggest drug busts in Texas history, until a team of lawyers set out to uncover the truth.

Tulia, Texas is the story of a small town’s search for justice and the price Americans pay for the nation’s war on drugs.

KETC/Channel 9’s Living St. Louis personality Jim Kirchherr moderates a panel discussion following the program. Panelists include Redditt Hudson of the ACLU; Alderman Terry Kennedy; and Linda Trest, reporter with the Gasconade County Republican.

The screening for Tulia Texas will take place at 7 p.m., today (Thursday, January 8 ) at the Missouri History Museum, Lindell and DeBaliviere in Forest Park. The panel discussion will immediately follow.
