The Black Film Critics Circle (BFCC) named Black Panther as the Best Picture of 2018 with Best Foreign Film going to Roma, and Best Documentary to Quincy.

“This has been a year of significant advancement for storytellers of color” BFCC co-president Mike Sargent said. “The diversity of types of films being made by filmmakers of color and how well they have been received at the global box office speaks volumes to antiquated notion that ‘black films don’t travel’ or have international appeal.” Sargent continues, “More precisely put, the global success of the black experience as captured on film shows ‘Black Stories Mater.'” “Congratulations to all the winners.”
