25 diverse and engaging Canadian short films that are set to premiere at this year’s 2019 Toronto International Film Festival including new works by Short Cuts alumni, award-winning directors, and emerging talents, and directorial efforts by acclaimed Canadian actors Aaron Poole and Sofia Banzhaf.
Among this strong group of storytellers are female filmmakers, making up 56% of the Canadian Short Cuts directors, and two Indigenous filmmakers.
All 20 Canadian films in the Short Cuts program are eligible for the IWC Short Cuts Award for Best Canadian Short Film and the IWC Short Cuts Award for Best Short Film.
In addition to the 20 films included in Short Cuts, there are five Canadian works in the Wavelengths program, screening as part of the Wavelengths short-film section or paired with another title.
The 44th Toronto International Film Festival runs September 5 to 15, 2019.
