The Los Angeles Film Critics Association named Bong Joon-ho‘s Parasite as Best Picture of 2019 along with Best Director for Joon-ho and Best Supporting Actor for Song Kang Ho, with Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman as runner-up in all three categories.
Best Foreign-Language film went to the Pedro Almodóvar’s Spanish drama Pain and Glory along with Best Actor for Antonio Banderas. American Factory directed by Julia Reichert and Steven Bognar won Best Documentary/Non-Fiction Film.
Other awards include Joe Talbot, Jimmie Fails and Jonathan Majors won the New Generation Award for The Last Black Man in San Francisco; and Ja’Tovia Gary’s The Giverny Document received The Douglas Edwards Experimental/Independent Film/Video Award.
The Los Angeles Film Critics Association chose legendary actress/writer/director Elaine May as the recipient of this year’s Career Achievement Award, to be given at the organization’s annual awards dinner on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020, at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City.
