Dick Johnson Is Dead

Nomadland took the top honors of Detroit Film Critics Society nabbing best picture of 2020, along with best director for Chloe Zhao, best actress for Frances McDormand and best adapted screenplay.

Minari also won multiple awards including best ensemble, best supporting actress for Yuh-jung Youn and best original screenplay.

Other winners include Dick Johnson is Dead won for best documentary and Sound of Metal won for best use of music/sound.

The DFCS normally awards films at the end of each calendar year, and only films that had a qualifying theatrical run. With the pandemic, the theatrical rule was relaxed so that streaming films also can be considered, and in line with some of the major awards groups like the Golden Globes, Critics Choice, SAG Awards and The Academy Awards, the Detroit Film Critics Society has extended its release eligibility window…any film released from 1/1/2020 until 2/28/2021 was eligible.
