Nana Mensah’s (Farewell Amor / 13 Reasons Why) directorial debut, the indie New York set comedy film “Queen of Glory” will celebrate its world premiere at Tribeca Film Festival.

Also starring Meeko Gattuso (Euphoria), Oberon KA Adjepong (The Dark Tower) and Adam Leon (Director of Tribeca premiering Italian Studies), Queen of Glory revolves around Sarah Obeng (Mensah), a middle-class scientist of Ghanaian decent from the Bronx who is trying to figure out what she wants from life and realising she has a real disconnect from her family and culture. Conflicted with personal emotions and society expectations, we follow Sarah on a heartfelt journey of self-discovery, as she grapples with her Ghanaian traditions and values against a modern-day New York in which she was raised.

‘Queen of Glory’ is the story of Sarah Obeng, the brilliant child of Ghanaian immigrants, who is quitting her Ivy League PhD program to follow her married lover to Ohio. When her mother dies suddenly, she bequeaths her daughter a Christian bookstore in the Pelham Parkway section of the Bronx where Sarah was raised. A follow-up on the classic immigrant’s tale, Queen of Glory provokes laughter and empathy, as its heroine is reborn through her inheritance.
