Following an all-virtual event last year, the 48th Seattle International Film Festival will return April 14–24, 2022 with a hybrid event that includes both in-person and virtual screenings. The 11-day festival will present the best in international and independent films from around the globe – with screenings at SIFF theaters and venues throughout the city as well as virtually on the SIFF Channel.
“The Seattle International Film Festival encompasses everything that SIFF stands for,” said SIFF’s Artistic Director Beth Barrett. “We want to connect people to the experiences of others, to revel in great stories, and to create experiences designed for film lovers. The Spring Festival is an 11-day celebration of film’s power to delight and transform – to inspire, provoke, and connect us to our community and the world.”
Returning to the festival will be the annual Producers Panel, Writers Panel, and Women’s Panel, in person at the historic Arlington Theatre as well as streamed live.
Events also include a special free screening of The Power of the Dog, followed by a Q&A with Jane Campion; and a free 10th anniversary screening of Silver Linings Playbook followed by a Q&A with David O. Russell.
As part of the Greg Nava Retrospective, the festival will show Greg Nava’s seminal immigration saga, El Norte, and Selena, the riveting bio-pic about the famous Tejano music legend who met a tragic end at only 23, starring Jennifer Lopez and Edward James Olmos. Olmos will be in attendance at the screening. Nava will also be present for a Q&A following each of the screenings.
