Hong Kong International Film Festival Society postponed the 46th Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF46) due to the escalating COVID-19 pandemic. Festival expects to reschedule the event for later this year.

Announcement:

The Hong Kong International Film Festival Society today confirmed the postponement of the 46th Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF46) and the cancellation of the current Cine Fan Programme’s remaining screenings.

This follows the government’s announcement yesterday, extending its social distancing measures to 20 April to curb the escalating COVID-19 pandemic. All cinemas and public performing venues in Hong Kong have closed since 7 January.

The 12-day HKIFF46 was scheduled initially between 31 March and 11 April.

A spokesperson confirmed that HKIFFS is looking at various options in rescheduling HKIFF46 and the cancelled Cine Fan screenings to later this year and will make announcements as soon as the arrangements are confirmed.

“We urge patrons to visit our official website and Facebook page regularly for updates and announcements, including Cine Fan ticket refund arrangement and the latest news on HKIFF46,” the spokesperson said
