The indie darling CODA won Best Picture at the 94th annual Academy Awards along with Best Supporting Actor for Troy Kotsur and Adapted Screenplay for Siân Heder. The film is a first on many levels, the first film by a streaming platform – Apple, and Sundance Film Festival debuting film to win the award for Best Film.
Summer of Soul won the award for Best Documentary Feature, and Japan’s Drive My Car won for Best International Feature.
Earlier in the evening, the The Queen of Basketball won for Documentary Short, The Windshield Wiper for Animated Short and The Long Goodbye for Live Action Short.
But everyone will probably only be talking about that moment when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock in the face after he made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s appearance.
