Briarcliff Entertainment will release The Hill, a true life sports drama starring Dennis Quaid (The Rookie, The Day After Tomorrow, The Parent Trap). Also starring in the movie are Colin Ford, Joelle Carter, country star Randy Houser, with Bonnie Bedelia and Scott Glenn.
As Pastor James Hill, Quaid plays the overbearing father of Rickey Hill, who tries to sideline his son because of his health and fear for how others will treat him.
Directed by Jeff Celentano (Gunshy, Breaking Point), The Hill is set to open in 1,000+ theatres on August 18th 25th, 2023.
The Hill is the inspiring true story of Rickey Hill, the small-town son of a traveling Pastor (Dennis Quaid). A sandlot baseball phenom, Rickey defiantly overcomes his physical disabilities and father’s persistent worry for his health, to fulfill his dream of playing professional baseball and ultimately transforming his connection with his father.
Commented Director Jeff Celentano, “I have been spiritually and emotionally connected to this project ever since I got to know Rickey and his family and what he ultimately accomplished. Now, with the team at Briarcliff, we will be able to bring Rickey’s story to the masses.”
“It’s an honor to have my story told in this way with Dennis Quaid and Colin Ford starring in The Hill. I hope audiences find inspiration in their depiction of my life and that it offers encouragement to anyone with a physical disability, because loving what you do, is the key to a wonderful life.” said Rickey Hill.
