Sundance Film Festival: London returns for the tenth edition of the Festival from 6 – 9 July 2023 with Scrapper making its UK premiere on Thursday 6 July at Picturehouse Central as opening film.
The film won the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize: Dramatic when it had its world premiere at Sundance Film Festival in Utah in January.
Scrapper writer/director Charlotte Regan hails from London and was BAFTA nominated for her first short film, Standby. Charlotte is a Sundance Ignite Fellow and was named as a 2020 Screen International Star of Tomorrow. Scrapper, her debut feature, stars Harris Dickinson (Beach Rats, Triangle of Sadness) and newcomers Lola Campbell and Alin Uzun.
The film follows Georgie, a dreamy 12-year-old girl, who lives happily alone in her London flat, filling it with magic. Suddenly, her estranged father turns up and forces her to confront reality.
The film will receive its UK premiere on Thursday 6 July at Picturehouse Central. There will be additional festival screenings of the film between 6 – 9 July at Picturehouse Central. Picturehouse Entertainment will release the film into UK cinemas on August 25 2023.
Charlotte Regan, Director, says, “Opening Sundance Film Festival: London is insane and not something we imagined getting to do. I’m so, so excited to bring the film to UK audiences and to get an extra step of the film’s journey with the legends at Sundance.”
