BLUE JEAN Trailer. Rosy McEwen Stars as a Closeted Lesbian in Georgia Oakley’s Directorial Debut

Magnolia Pictures revealed the official trailer for Blue Jean, the award-winning British drama starring Rosy McEwen as Jean, a closeted gay teacher in London in 1988. Also starring in the film are Kerrie Hayes, Lucy Halliday, Lydia Page, Stacy Abalogun, Amy Booth-Steele, Aoife Kennan, Scott Turnbull, Farrah Cave, Lainey Shaw, Izzy Neish and Becky Lindsay.

Directed by Georgia Oakley, making her directorial debut, Blue Jean premiered at 2022 Venice Film Festival where it won the People’s Choice Award, and went on to win 4 British Independent Film Awards along with BAFTA nomination for Outstanding British Debut. The film opens in theaters on June 9, 2023.

In Georgia Oakley’s stunning directorial debut Blue Jean, it’s 1988 England and Margaret Thatcher’s Conservative government is about to pass a law stigmatizing gays and lesbians, forcing Jean (Rosy McEwen, in a powerhouse performance), a gym teacher, to live a double life. As pressure mounts from all sides, the arrival of a new student catalyzes a crisis that will challenge Jean to her core.
