Ewan McGregor to Receive TV Performance of the Year Award at Newport Beach Film Festival

Ewan McGregor will receive the TV Performance of the Year Award, for his starring role in A Gentleman in Moscow, the adaptation of Amor Towles’ novel at the 2024 Newport Beach Film Festival (NBFF).

McGregor, who also serves as an executive Producer on the series (which is streaming on Showtime and Paramount+),  will be honored after a live recording of The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast on October 22, 2024.

McGregor’s career spans from his breakthrough in Trainspotting to his iconic role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars. He has won multiple awards, including an Emmy for his role in Halston and Golden Globe recognition for Fargo. His recent credits include “Mother, Couch” and “Bleeding Love.” He recently wrapped production on the film “Flowervale Street” and the next installment of his Emmy-nominated motorbike adventure series “Long Way” alongside Charley Boorman.

The 25th Newport Beach Film Festival, running from October 17 to 24, 2024, highlights include the Opening Night film “Old Guy” and the Closing Night film “A Real Pain.” Centerpiece films include “Blitz,” “Hard Truths,” “Nightbitch,” and “The Piano Lesson.”

This year’s honorees include Nicolas Cage (Icon Award), Joan Chen (Career Achievement Award), Colman Domingo (Maverick Award) Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Sheryl Lee Ralph (Artist of Distinction Awards), George MacKay (Spotlight Award), June Squibb (Lifetime Achievement Award), Diane Warren (Lifetime Achievement in Music Award), as well as Colleen Atwood (Career Achievement in Costume Design), David Alan Grier and Wendi McLendon-Covey (Outstanding Achievement in Comedy Award), Terry Crews (Arts Champion Award), Jane Lynch (Outstanding Achievement in Comedy Award), Finneas O’Connell (Outstanding Achievement in Music Award), Peter Sarsgaard (Film Performance of the Year Award), Christoph Waltz (Icon Award) who will receive their awards throughout the festival.
