Cinematographer Lol Crawley, most recently known for Brady Corbet’s epic post-war drama The Brutalist has been named the recipient of the sixth annual Roby Müller Award at International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR). During IFFR 2025, Crawley will give an IFFR Talk on his work, along with presenting the Dutch premiere of the The Brutalist.

The jury for this year’s Robby Müller Award commented, “Lol Crawley’s camera is dedicated to the story and characters in a way that is both humble and ardent. It forms a close, dynamic relationship with them. His sensual cinematography embraces the environment as unpredictable and fluid and aims to align with its flow rather than confine it to a predefined frame.”

In addition The Brutalist (2024), Crawley’s feature film work includes White Noise (2022), The Humans (2021), The Childhood of a Leader (IFFR 2015), 45 Years (2015), Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom (2013) and Ballast (2008). His television credits include Black Mirror (2011), The OA (2016 – 2019), The Crimson Petal and the White (2011), and Utopia (2013 – 2014).

In collaboration with the Netherlands Society of CInematographers (NSC) and Andrea Müller-Schirmer, the wife of the late celebrated Dutch cinematographer Robby Müller, IFFR honors the artistry of an exceptional image maker (director of photography, filmmaker or visual artist).

Past Robby Müller Award recipients include Belgian cinematographer Grimm Vandekerckhove, following awards for Hélène Louvart, Sayombhu Mukdeeprom, Kelly Reichardt and Diego Garcia.
