SYNOPSIS: Mohamed Helmy was an Egyptian doctor who traveled to Berlin to study medicine; there he eventually opened a practice in the decades before World War II. During that time, he met a Jewish girl named Anna Boros, whom he saved from capture by the Nazis by disguising her as a Muslim woman. This astounding documentary uncovers the many extraordinary maneuvers and deceptions he took to save her life, at great risk to his own. In 2013, Dr. Helmy posthumously became the first and only Arab recognized as “Righteous Among the Nations” by the state of Israel. Mohamed and Anna: In Plain Sight embodies the Talmudic precept “He who saves one life, saves an entire world,” while demonstrating how the human heart can bridge religions, cultures, and nationalities.
