“Long Pigs” Takes Best Feature Jury Prize For 2010 Texas Frightmare Film Festival

Texas Frightmare Weekend announced the award winners for its companion Texas Frightmare Film Festival at the conclusion of the record breaking convention on Sunday, May 2.

Taking the jury prize for Best Feature was Nathan Hynes’s and Chris Powers’ LONG PIGS. The film shows the results after two desperate young filmmakers stumble upon their ultimate subject, a 33 year old cannibalistic serial killer, who has agreed to let them document every aspect of his horrifically violent life-style.

Winning the Audience Award was Herschell Gordon Lewis’ THE UH-OH SHOW. The gore horror-comedy revolves around a game show called “Uh oh”, where contestants can win money by answering trivia questions, but for every wrong answer the contestant loses a limb.

The Best Special Effects nod went to Stacy Davidson’s SWEATSHOP. The film focuses on a young woman and her friends break into an abandoned warehouse and begin setting up an impromptu party. Unbeknownst to them, something lurks in this dark place…and they are about to pay for their mistake.

Texas Frightmare Weekend placed more emphasis on the film festival part within the event, adding screenings and red carpet entrances populated by several stars and filmmakers of the films as well as the horror and the genre stars attending Texas Frightmare Weekend.

Screenings took place at the Lewisville Studio Movie Grill as well as the Sheraton Grand Hotel. The popular horror and genre convention also broke attendance records and featured appearances by John Carpenter, George Romero, Lance Henriksen, Doug Bradley, Kane Hodder, William Katt, Margot Kidder, Derek Mears, Julian Sands. Highlights included a CHRISTINE reunion with stars Keith Gordon, Alexandra Paul and John Stockwell, as well as one of the final 2 remaining 1958 Plymouth Fury cars used to film the movie will be at the show for fans to see. The event also featured the 3rd Annual Zombie Walk sponsored by Moxley Manor and the 3rd Annual Hearse and Shock Rod Show.
