Derby City Film Festival Announces Juors And Workshops

The Derby City Film Festival today announced the jurors for the 3rd edition of the festival which runs February 18th through 20th, 2011. The jurors represent a variety of professional entertainment areas and each are respected in Louisville and throughout the region in their fields. They include:

– Archie Borders, is a Producer and Director with over twenty years experience in film making and production and owner of BWK Media Group.

– Kelly K has been one-half of the morning show on 99/7 ‘DJX since 1999 and is also host of Insight’s “Shopping Kentuckiana” and with Kevin Harned as co-host of “Secrets of Louisville Chefs”

– Christian Walsh is a film critic for LEO Weekly and the online editor of Food and Dining Magazine.

– Tim Dench is the founder and owner of Dench’s Video Services, Inc. and has received 68 National Awards for video production, he has been regarded as one of the nation’s leading pioneers in event videography.

The festival is also happy to bring back the audience vote for the next edition. Each audience member will be able to vote on their favorite film in each category and the votes will be tallied and will comprise 1/5 of the total jury vote. Awards will be given out following the festival conclusion.

The workshops for the festival cover a wide range of topics including: Writing for the Screen, Producing and Directing, Cinematography, Green Screen Techniques, Acting, and FX Make-Up.

Each of the workshops are hosted by leading regional professionals in independent film and are designed for the experienced filmmaker as well as those just beginning or who have an interest in learning more about the world of independent film. The workshops will be held Saturday and Sunday during the festival and are free for those who purchase a day or festival pass.
