Filmfest Dresden 2023 Announces Short Films Award Winners

The Czech-Slovak short film Asteríon from Francesco Montagner was awarded the Golden Horseman Best Short Film, in addition to receiving a special mention from the Youth Jury in the International Competition at the 35th Filmfest Dresden international short film festival.

The Golden Horseman Best Short Film in the National Competition went to Mother Prays All Day Long from Hoda Taheri, who also went on to receive a special mention from the Jury of the “fully political” – Short Film Award for Democratic Culture.

The Golden Horseman of the Audience in the National Competition went to Mudhole (Moddergat) from Job Antoni Schellekens. In the International Competition, the audience awarded the French production Skinned (Écorchée) from Joachim Hérissé.

The Saxon Film Promotion Prize went to NEZOON for Lake Of Fire. Jorge Cadena was a double winner: his work Flores Del Otro Patio (Switzerland/Columbia) garnered both the “fully political” – Short Film Award for Democratic Culture, as well as the Youth Jury Golden Horseman in the International Competition.

The new Central German Competition Jury Award was garnered by Mona Keil for her animated work Juice, and The Land of Milk & Honey from Isabelle Nouzhas (Belgium 2022) went on to win the ARTE Short Film Prize.
