Ana Dumitrașcu stars as a woman struggling to remain loyal to her boyfriend while in rehab in the Romanian drama Immaculate (Imaculat), directed by Monica Stan and George Chiper-Lillemar, which was selected as Romania’s Official Submission for International Feature Film at the 94th Academy Awards®.

Also starring in the film are Vasile Pavel, Cezar Grumăzescu, Ilona Brezoianu, Rares Andrici, Bogdan Farcas, Florin Hritcu, Ioan Tiberiu Dobrica, Ionut Niculae, Dan Ursu, Petrache Ninel, Diana Dumbrava, Ozana Oancea, Cristina Gabriela Buburuz, and Adelina Toma.

The film follows Daria, a young woman taken by her parents to rehab after her junkie boyfriend ends up in prison. Inside rehab, Daria becomes entangled with other patients in the facility and must find her own way out. Inspired by filmmaker Monica Stan’s own experience, Imaculat is an intimate film that illuminates the beautiful and heartbreaking performance by lead actress Ana Dumitrascu while explore the human condition. The film combines elements of psychological thriller and drama while approaching its subject matter in unique and gentle ways.

When young Daria enters rehab, her perceived innocence gains her the protection of the mostly male junkies inside, but she soon finds out that this special treatment comes at a great price. Being desired yet protected by everyone makes Daria feel special for the first time in her teenage life.
