Garrett Hedlund (Mudbound, Tron, Tulsa King, Triple Frontier), Stephen Lang (Avatar, Don’t Breathe franchises), Hamish Linklater (Midnight Mass, The Big Short) and Brittany Snow (Pitch Perfect, X) are set to star in Barron’s Cove, the new thriller from Mandalay Pictures and Yale Entertainment. The film will be directed by Evan Ari Kelman who also penned the script.
The story follows a grieving father with a violent past, whose life is shattered by the tragic murder of his young son. Consumed with the need for answers, he kidnaps the child he believes responsible for his son’s death, igniting a frenzied manhunt fueled by the kidnapped boy’s powerful politician father. With captivating suspense, pulse-pounding action sequences, and a turn that will leave audiences shaken, the film promises to deliver a fresh take on the mystery-crime genre. At the heart of the story is a poignant theme about the unbreakable bond between fathers and sons.
“This is the culmination of years of effort and dedication, and to now be heading into production is a dream come true. Working with Garrett has been an immensely rewarding, once-in-a-lifetime collaboration, and to see him become just as invested as I am in telling this story has multiplied my inspiration and excitement past anything I could have anticipated. I think one thing that makes this project so special is how deeply our whole team resonates with our story’s themes of hope, forgiveness, and self-determination. We know this is a timely narrative and we’re eager to share it with the world,” said Kelman.
The film is set to begin filming later this year. Yale Entertainment’s sales arm, Great Escape, will be introducing the project to buyers in Cannes.
