Filmmaker Mark Andrew Bowers makes his directorial debut with Its Name Was Mormo, a claustrophobic horror film captured through a raw pedestrian lens. Bowers also stars in the movie alongside Mia Bowers and Diana Cardenas.

Uncork’d Entertainment will release in theaters on November 9, followed by a digital release on November 26. A Spanish-language version, featuring the original actors, will also be available at launch, expanding its reach to a broader audience.

The film began as a simple documenting of a young family moving into a new home. Initially not intended for release, the story transformed after the discovery of a dilapidated village, which led to an impromptu production. As the unscripted narrative unfolded, the filmmakers encountered unusual occurrences off-camera.

The story follows a young family – Mark, Diana, and Mia – as their life unravels into chaos as a sinister presence. Through the lens of police evidence, the family endures the torment of a demon deeply rooted in Greek mythology, which targets each member in its own malicious way.

As they incorporated Greek symbolism into their home, the production’s turbulence peaked, leaving Marcela with the unsettling feeling of being observed, which led her to keep the curtains drawn day and night. Mark experienced the unsettling sensation of a presence beside him, while their puppy Romeo frequently barked into dark corners and whined while pacing in circles. The family’s determination to complete the project swiftly, eager to return to normalcy, wove these occurrences into the fabric of the production as their unsettling experiences fueled them.

“The journey was both challenging and terrifying, but the result is something we’re eager to share with audiences worldwide,” says Mark Andrew Bowers. ,”We can’t wait to collaborate with Uncork’d and share our story with audiences across the world.”
