Helmed by H. Nelson Tracey in his feature film directorial debut, Breakup Season is a romance/drama film following the story of a recently broken-up couple who got stuck at a family Christmas visit. The film initially premiered at the 2024 Desertscape Film Festival on March 29th. The independent film also screened at the 13th Richmond Film Festival, the 25th Newport Beach Film Festival, and the 2024 Waco Indie Film Festival where it won the Best Narrative Feature and Best Performance for lead actor Chandler Riggs.

Synopsis
Ben Russell (Chandler Riggs), an unemployed yet ambitious 24-year-old, brings his girlfriend Cassie (Samantha Isler) from Los Angeles to his rural Oregon hometown to meet his parents and siblings for the first time and spend Christmas with his family: his goofy dad Kirby (James Urbaniak), loving but stern mom Mia (Brook Hogan), aspiring vlogger younger sister Liz (Carly Stewart), and enigmatic deadbeat older brother Gordon (Jacob Wysocki).
The arrival is bumpy, and the family’s dynamic unearths some internal conflict Cassie is having with her relationship with Ben. A late night conversation between the couple turns into a breakup, and Cassie determines she should go home for Christmas after all. But due to the winter weather and remote rural location, Cassie learns she is unable to travel. She becomes stuck with her newly minted ex’s family for the rest of the holiday.
With a balance of comedy and drama, Breakup Season is an authentic look at early 20s love and heartbreak, with a holiday twist and added emphasis on the relationship that family plays into this dynamic.
