Following up its win at the Golden Globes for Best Actor (Colin Firth), and its buzz for the upcoming Oscars and BAFTAs, The King’s Speech was announced as the closing film for the 40th International Film Festival Rotterdam on Saturday 5 February.
Directed by Tom Hooper The King’s Speech gives an intimate insight into the British royal family on the eve of World War II. The King’s Speech is the true story of King George VI, to overcome his stuttering by a speech therapist Lionel Logue. The star cast includes Colin Firth, Helena Bonham Carter, Geoffrey Rush, Jennifer Ehle, Derek Jacobi, Michael Gambon and Guy Pearce.
