Tom Berenger, known for his memorable roles in “Platoon,” “Major League” and more recently, “Inception,” will be honored with the Career Achievement Award. Berenger is an acclaimed actor, writer and producer whose talent has helped enhance the film industry for decades. This prestigious award, previously presented to Armand Assante, is given annually to recognize the incredible career of one industry professional.
“This has been an amazing year and it is an honor to receive this award from the Gasparilla International Film Festival,” said Tom Berenger. “I greatly look forward to attending this year’s festival.”
Actor M. Emmet Walsh, who has starred in such films as “Youth in Revolt,” “Blade Runner” and “Blood Simple,” will be receiving this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Walsh has been in more than 100 film and television productions in his more than 40 years in the entertainment industry. This award, previously presented to prestigious actors such as Raymond J. Barry and Terry Moore, is given to distinguished actors who have dedicated a lifetime to producing memorable work for the entertainment industry.
“Both of these actors have had remarkable careers and continue to produce award-winning work,” said Eric Polins, president of the GIFF. “We are thrilled to welcome Berenger and Walsh to our festival this year.”
