The beautifully filmed mystery thriller and noir feature Naples in Veils (Napoli velata) from writer/director Ferzan Ozpetek (Steam: The Turkish Bath, His Secret Life) has been acquired by Breaking Glass Pictures for a theatrical release in the first half of 2019, followed by a DVD/VOD release.

Lauded as a “gorgeously filmed psychological thriller” (Brent McKnight, Seattle Times), while The Hollywood Reporter’s Deborah Young praised the film’s “sensual photography, music and locations”, Naples in Veils (Napoli velata) held its world premiere at the Moscow Film Festival where it took home the Best Actress Prize for star Giovanna Mezzogiorno, and went on to a healthy world spanning festival run including the Chicago International Film Festival, Seattle International Film Festival, David di Donatello 2018 where it won Best Production Design and Best Cinematography, and Filmfest München for a spotlight feature.

One evening at a party, Adriana crosses the seductive and provocative looks of Andrea, an attractive and confident young man. She cannot escape the sensual skirmish and the two spend the night together. But it does not seem to finish there. They agree to go out together the day after. A stronger feeling grows rapidly in her, perhaps the beginning of a great love that could change her life. The turning point comes, but it is not what she expected. The situation precipitates when she becomes involved in a crime that drags her into the center of an investigation with disturbing outcomes. A jolt that can undermine every certainty. Involuntarily, without the possibility of escape, she slips into a path inside the most secret shadow zone of her personality. In a Naples suspended between magic and sensuality, reason and madness, a mystery surrounds the existence of Adriana, overwhelmed by a sudden love and a violent crime.
