Yellow Rose, directed by Diane Paragas was a big hit at the 23rd Annual Urbanworld Film Festival, winning both the Audience Award and Jury Award for Best Feature – U.S. Cinema. The films follows Rose, an undocumented Filipino girl, who dreams of one day leaving her small Texas town to pursue her country music dreams. Her world is shattered when her mom suddenly gets picked up by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The Ghost And The House Of Truth by Nigerian director Akin Omotoso won the Jury award for Best Narrative Feature (World Cinema); and The Remix: Hip Hop x Fashion directed by Lisa Cortés and Farah X won the award for Best Documentary Feature.
