Anchorage International Film Festival (AFF) will host the screening of the award-winning documentary The Wild directed by Mark Titus, as a “Live” Virtual Screening on Friday, June 5th at 6 pm AKDT.
An urgent threat emerges to spur filmmaker Mark Titus (“The Breach”) back to the Alaskan wilderness — where the people of Bristol Bay and the world’s largest wild salmon runs face devastation if Pebble Mine, a massive copper mine is constructed. By suddenly dismantling safeguards the EPA had enacted to protect the salmon, water, and people of Bristol Bay, the current political regime in the United States has unilaterally revived a mining corporation’s relentless pursuit of receiving a permit in 2020 to build North America’s largest open-pit copper mine — directly in the headwaters of the most prodigious wild sockeye salmon run in the world.
The Wild is a race against time. At stake is the survival of a keystone species that feeds 137 different creatures – including us – in a wild place that is the last of its kind on Earth.
Featuring the vibrant characters from Bristol Bay; Patagonia founder, Yvon Chouinard; Seattle Chef, Tom Douglas; Celebrity chef, Tom Colicchio; Yupik artist, Apayu’q Moore; Actor, Mark Harmon; Actor and activist, Adrian Grenier and many more.
The screening will be followed by post screening with cast members: Seattle Chef, Tom Douglas and Owner of Kvichak Fish, Amanda Wlaysewski; and other special guests.
