Sony Pictures Classics announced that they will now release Eva Husson’s Mothering Sunday in theaters in New York and Los Angeles on March 25, 2022 before expanding to other markets over the following weeks. The film previously received a one-week qualifying run in Los Angeles in November 2021, making it eligible for all potential awards. Star Olivia Colman has since received recognition from the London Critics’ Circle Film Awards, earning a nomination for “British/Irish Actress of the Year.”
Mothering Sunday, starring Odessa Young, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Olivia Colman, Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù, and Glenda Jackson, is written by Alice Birch, who adapted the screenplay from Graham Swift’s provocative best-selling novella of the same name.
The film had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival and has screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, the London Film Festival, and was the centerpiece at the Hamptons International Film Festival, where it made its U.S. premiere.
