Michigan Movie Critics Guild Winners – Barbie named Best Film, The Holdovers’ Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Paul Giamatti Win

The Michigan Movie Critics Guild announced its 2023 winners awarding Barbie the honors of best picture, best director and best supporting actor for Ryan Gosling.

Da’Vine Joy Randolph – The Holdovers won Best Supporting Actress for her performance in The Holdovers, Emma Stone won Best Actress for her performance in Poor Things, and a tie for best actor between Paul Giamatti for The Holdovers and Jeffrey Wright for American Fiction. 

Other honors went to Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie for Best Documentary, American Fiction director Cord Jefferson won breakthrough of the year for his directorial debut, and Comedian Keegan-Michael Key, a Detroit native, received the group’s MMCG Award for Film Excellence.
