Anatomy of a Fall by Justine Triet was the big winner of the night at European Film Awards 2023, winning five awards including European Film, Director, Actress for Sandra Hüller, Scriptwriter and the Excellence Award for Editing.

Other top awards including European Actor went to Mads Mikkelsen in The Promised Land; European Documentary went to Smoke Sauna Sisterhood (Savvusanna Sõsarad) directed by Anna Hints; and European Discovery – Prix FIPRESCI went to How to Have Sex directed by Molly Manning Walker.
