Göteborg Film Festival will honor actress and filmmaker Julie Delpy with the Honorary Dragon Award at the premiere of Meet the Barbarians at the upcoming edition taking place January 24 to February 3, 2025.
She will accept the award during the premiere of Meet the Barbarians on January 29.
“Julie Delpy is a unique voice in the world of film. Her work blends humor, depth, and sensitivity in a way that resonates with audiences worldwide. She is a trailblazer and an inspiration–we are truly proud to honor her with this year’s Honorary Dragon Award,” says Pia Lundberg, Artistic Director of the Göteborg Film Festival.
During the festival, Julie Delpy will participate in a stage talk and present the premiere of her new film, Meet the Barbarians, which she directed, wrote, and stars in. The festival will also celebrate Delpy’s cinematic achievements with a retrospective featuring some of her most iconic works: Three Colours: White (1994), Before Sunrise (1995, part one of the Before-trilogy), 2 Days in Paris (2007), and Lolo (2015).
In Meet the Barbarians, which world premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, a small town in France preparing to welcome a Ukrainian refugee family is surprised when a Syrian family shows up instead. Starring in the film are Julie Delpy, Sandrine Kiberlain, Laurent Lafitte, Ziad Bakri, Jean-Charles Clichet, and India Hair.
