The Brutalist

Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist won the top prize, and the film’s only win, for Film of the Year at the 45th London Critics’ Circle Film Awards, with Nickel Boys, Conclave, and A Real Pain dominating with multiple wins for other awards.

Edward Berger’s Conclave won for British/Irish Film of the Year and Actor of the Year for Ralph Fiennes; Nickel Boys won Director of the Year for RaMell Ross and the Technical Achievement Award for Jomo Fray’s first-person cinematography; and A Real Pain won Screenwriter of the Year for Jesse Eisenberg, and Supporting Actor of the Year for Kieran Culkin.

Other top film prizes went to Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine as Light for Foreign Language Film of the Year, Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl was named Animated Feature of the Year, and the Palestinian-Israeli collective won Documentary of the Year for No Other Land.

Marianne Jean-Baptiste took Actress of the Year for Mike Leigh’s Hard Truths, Mikey Madison won Breakthrough Performer for Anora, Saoirse Ronan won British/Irish Performer of the Year for her performances in The Outrun and Blitz, 14-year-old Nykiya Adams won Young British/Irish Performer of the Year for her screen debut in Andrea Arnold’s Bird, and Rich Peppiatt won the Breakthrough British/Irish Filmmaker award for writing and directing the hip-hop biopic Kneecap.

Zoe Saldaña won Supporting Actress of the Year for Emilia Pérez, along with the Derek Malcolm Award for Innovation — presented at the ceremony by America Ferrera and last year’s winner Colman Domingo.

The second honorary award, the Dilys Powell Award for Excellence in Film, went to Daniel Craig, presented by Lesley Manville, his costar in Luca Guadagnino’s Queer, for which he was also an Actor of the Year nominee this year.
