39th Goya Awards Winners, El 47,  La Infiltrada

For the first time in the history of the Goya Awards. two films – El 47 directed by Marcel Barrena, and La Infiltrada directed by Arantxa Echevarría tied to win the top prize of Best Film at the 39th edition.

El 47 also won Best Supporting Actor for Salva Reina, Best Supporting Actress for Clara Segura, and Best Special Effects. The film is based on a true story that happened in Barcelona in 1978. It tells the story of Manolo Vital, played by Eduard Fernández, a bus driver who hijacked a bus and drove it to Torre Baró, the neighborhood where he lived, where there was no public transport.

In Undercover (La infiltrada), a young police officer accepts the dangerous mission of trying to infiltrate the terrorist group ETA, an assignment that will lead her to live with two ETA members.

Emilia Pérez (France), by Jacques Audiard, won Best European Film, and I’m Still Here by Walter Salles (Brazil) won Best Ibero-american Film.

The Room Next Door won for Best Cinema Direction and Best Original Music.

The Honorary Goya went to actress Aitana Sánchez-Gijón and the International Goya to Richard Gere .
