‘Deaf’ and ‘The Moelln Letters’ Win Panorama Audience Awards at 2025 Berlinale

Deaf (Sorda) by Eva Libertad has won the 27th Panorama Audience Award for best feature film, and The Moelln Letters (Die Möllner Briefe) by Martina Priessner wins in the category Panorama Dokumente at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival.

In Sorda, a deaf woman and her hearing partner, are expecting a child. After a complicated and emotionally intense labour, and the birth to their daughter, they must wait a couple of months to learn if the baby is hearing or not.

The Moelln Letters (Die Möllner Briefe) follows İbrahim Arslan and his family thirty years after the racist attacks in Mölln, Germany. In the aftermath of the attacks, the city received hundreds of letters of solidarity which were ignored for nearly three decades.
