Vertical revealed the official trailer for Sacramento, the road-trip comedy film starring Michael Cera and Michael Angarano as friends taking an impromptu road trip from Los Angeles to Sacramento.
Also starring in the movie are Maya Erskine, Kristen Stewart, AJ Mendez, Iman Karram and Rosalind Chao.
Erskine plays Angarano’s wife, Stewart is Cera’s wife, with Mendez and Karram playing best friends and ex-professional fighters who teach them about their own relationship.
Directed by Michael Angarano, Sacramento world premiered at Tribeca Festival, and opens in theaters nationwide on April 11, 2025.
Following the death of his father, energetic and free-spirited Rickey (Michael Angarano) convinces long-time friend Glenn (Michael Cera) to go on an impromptu road trip from Los Angeles to Sacramento. Frustrated by Rickey’s Peter Pan complex, Glenn is encouraged by his pregnant wife Rosie (Kristen Stewart) to go on the adventure to reconnect. In the worn yellow seats of Glenn’s old college convertible, the two men confront their anxiety-ridden lives, addressing past mistakes and questioning what their futures hold.
Deadline review described the film as ‘a charming exploration of anxiety, friendship and fatherhood’, writing, “Despite the shortcomings, Sacramento succeeds as a lighthearted fare. Its examination of strained friendships, the fear of inadequacy in impending fatherhood, and the importance of mental health conversations are handled with a good balance of care and humor. It may not be perfect, but its charm lies in its imperfections, much like the characters it portrays. In a film that invites you to laugh and reflect, traveling through Sacramento is a journey worth taking.”
