We are kicking off Women’s History Month with the official trailer for Audrey’s Children, the award-winning biopic film starring Game of Thrones alum Natalie Dormer (The Wasp) as Dr. Audrey Evans, the British-born American pediatric oncologist who was known as the ‘Mother of Neuroblastoma’ and one of the co-founders of the original Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia. She passed away on September 29, 2022 at the age of 97.
Audrey’s Children tells the untold true story of the visionary British physician who burst onto the scene in 1969 as the first female Chief of Oncology at the world-renowned Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Battling sexism, medical conventions, and the subterfuge of her peers, Evans developed the first Neuroblastoma Staging System, co-founded the first Ronald McDonald House for families of patients, and, ultimately, impacted the lives of millions of children and families around the world.
Also starring in the movie are Jimmi Simpson (Dark Matter), Clancy Brown (The Shawshank Redemption), and Brandon Micheal Hall (Search Party).
Directed by Ami Canaan Mann (Jackie & Ryan) and written and produced by Julia Fisher Farbman (a family friend of Dr. Evans), Audrey’s Children opens nationwide in theaters on March 28, 2025, from Blue Harbor Entertainment.
As the growing resistance to the Vietnam War takes to the streets of 1969 Philadelphia, Dr.Audrey Evans (Natalie Dormer) is fighting her own revolution amid the dated, crowded hallways of the world-renowned Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in this empowering true story. The British doctor may be the first female chief of pediatric oncology in CHOP’s history, yet her colleagues appear to withhold deserved respect. She finds herself the only woman in the room, balancing fierce determination with an undeniably tender bedside manner for the families of ill children. When her progressive new treatment methods are at first dismissed, and then nearly sidelined, Dr. Evans embarks on an unforgettable mission that will change the lives of millions of patients and their families.
Director Ami Canaan Mann exquisitely captures an era of revolution to the world of medicine and the woman behind it, with Natalie Dormer embodying the playful warmth and passionate resolve of a true hero and co-founder of Ronald McDonald House Charities.
