André Holland in The Actor trailer and release date
The Actor(Neon)

Neon debuted the official trailer for The Actor, the mystery thriller film stars André Holland as a New York actor with amnesia, who becomes stranded in a mysterious small town in 1950s Ohio. It is based on the novel Memory by Donald E. Westlake.

Also starring in the movie are Gemma Chan, May Calamawy, Asim Chaudhry, Joe Cole, Fabien Frankel, Olwen Fouéré, Edward Hogg, Toby Jones, Youssef Kerkour, Simon McBurney, Tanya Reynolds, Tracey Ullman and Scott Alexander Young.

Directed by Duke Johnson, making his solo directorial debut and first live-action film following the stop-motion film Anomalisa, The Actor opens in select theaters on March 14, 2025.

New-York-based theater actor Paul Cole is wrapping up an out-of-town engagement when a casual adultery has a disastrous consequence. He can’t remember who he was, where he lives, even, for a time, what he does. And his condition isn’t exactly conventional amnesia, because he also can’t remember from minute to minute. He has to survive by piecing together remnants of his old life until he can find some solid ground.

Without a sense of identity or purpose, he starts from scratch and begins courting a local costume designer Edna (Chan). As bits and pieces of his past slowly emerge, he attempts to find his way home, but time is slippery, appearances can’t be trusted, and it’s unclear which of his identities is real.
