Australian Filmmaker Peter Renzullo to Direct Psychological Thriller ‘The Jewel Wasp’

Australian filmmaker Peter Renzullo is set to direct his latest feature film, The Jewel Wasp, a psychological thriller about an underground agency called EMERALD. This organization is dedicated to capturing perpetrators of horrific crimes before they are caught by law enforcement, bringing them face-to-face with the families of their victims. The film delves deep into the human psyche, exploring the intense emotions tied to revenge, morality, and justice, set against a backdrop of harrowing subject matter.
“I’ve always been fascinated by the complexity of the human mind, and The Jewel Wasp is an exploration of those dark and intense emotions people experience when driven by the need for vengeance,” says Renzullo. “It’s a story that confronts difficult subject matter, but ultimately reveals the complexity of justice and what it means to seek retribution.”
Despite facing the challenges of being legally blind, with only 3% vision remaining due to a rare condition called Cone Dystrophy, Renzullo has continued to succeed in an industry where visual precision is key.
The Jewel Wasp marks his third feature film in production and his seventh script. His body of work includes The Decadent & Depraved, Radio Man, The Canary, Before Dawn, and the upcoming Unapologetic, which is set to be released later this year.
Ian Hale, the owner of The Backlot Perth and founder of Halo Films, will take on the role of Executive Producer.
