Wes Anderson’s The Phoenician Scheme has unveiled its first official trailer, giving audiences a glimpse into his trademark quirky and intricate narrative that seamlessly blends family dynamics with high-stakes intrigue.

The film stars Benicio del Toro as Zsa-zsa Korda, one of the richest men in Europe; Mia Threapleton as Liesl, his daughter/a nun; Michael Cera as Bjorn, their tutor.

Also starring in the movie are Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Mathieu Amalric, Richard Ayoade, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Rupert Friend, and Hope Davis

According to Focus Features, the official synopsis describes the film as “the story of a family and a family business.”

The Phoenician Scheme will World Premiere in competition at Cannes Film Festival, then opens in theaters for limited release on May 30, 2025, with a nationwide expansion on June 6, 2025.
