
The Last Meal directed by Maryse Legagneur, has won the $15,000 MARIMBAS Award, the top prize at the 42nd edition of Miami Film Festival. The film tells the moving story of Reynold, a man facing cancer who reconnects with his estranged daughter through the healing power of Haitian cuisine.
The Made in MIA Feature Film Award went to The Python Hunt directed by Xander Robin, the Jordan Ressler First Feature Award went to Omaha directed by Cole Webley and the Audience Feature Film Award went to Espina directed by Daniel Poler which had its World Premiere at the Festival.
In the documentary competition, the Documentary Achievement Award went to Checkpoint Zoo directed by Joshua Zeman, and the Audience Documentary Film Award went to Selena y Los Dinos directed by Isabel Castro.
