
Academy Award nominee Maria Bakalova (The Apprentice, Borat) stars in filmmaker Hala Matar’s directorial debut Electra, a stylish, sexy, and seductive thriller set in Italy.
Also starring in the film are Abigail Cowen (Fate: the Winx Saga, Redeeming Love), Jack Farthing (Spencer, Rain Dogs), along with Daryl Wein (How It Ends, Something From Tiffany’s) who also produced and co-wrote the screenplay.
Electra follows two journalists who travel to the lush Italian villa of a famous musician and his partner for an interview, but all is not as it seems and the trip spirals into deceit and deadly betrayals.
The film will be released by Level 33 Entertainment in select theaters and on demand starting May 2nd.
According to the synopsis: An American couple travels to Italy to interview a fading rockstar at his girlfriend’s opulent countryside estate. As the weekend unfolds, their glamorous escape becomes a labyrinth of tortured relationships, unspoken desires, and dark secrets. Beneath the charm and allure, hidden motives simmer, pushing everyone toward a shocking confrontation that will change everything.
Hala Mataris, known for her music videos and audacious commercial work with fashion brands which includes Moncler, Louis Vuitton and Chanel, is the first Bahraini woman to release a feature film.
