A24 debuted the official trailer for Ne Zha 2, the Chinese animated epic film starring Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh, Vincent Rodriguez III, Aleks Le, Damien Haas, and Crystal Lee. The film is the sequel to Ne Zha released in 2019, and is based on the Chinese mythological character and Xu Zhonglin’s 16th-century novel Investiture of the Gods (Fengshen Yanyi).
Directed by Chinese animator Jiaozi (Yang Yu), the film was released earlier this year in China, going on to broke box office records inside and outside China. It will open in 3D and IMAX on August 22.
Here is the synopsis:
A rebellious young boy, Ne Zha, is feared by the gods and born to mortal parents with wild, uncontrolled powers. Now he’s faced with an ancient force intent on destroying humanity, he must grow up to become the hero the world needs.
