A224 dropped the official trailer for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, a harrowing psychological drama film centered on Rose Byrne as Linda, an overworked mother on the edge. As Linda cares for her chronically ill daughter in a grungy beachside motel, her life collapses (quite literally) beneath her.

The sharp ensemble includes Conan O’Brien in his dramatic debut as Linda’s therapist, A$AP Rocky as the enigmatic motel superintendent James, and Danielle Macdonald, Delaney Quinn, and Christian Slater (voice only) rounding out the emotional wreckage.

Written and directed by Mary Bronstein, If I Had Legs I’d Kick You world‑premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival on January 24, then screened in competition at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival, where Rose Byrne won the Silver Bear for Best Leading Performance. It opens in theaters in the U.S. this fall on October 10, 2025.

Here is the synopsis:

With her life crashing down around her, Linda (Rose Byrne) attempts to navigate her child’s mysterious illness, her absent husband, a missing person, and an increasingly hostile relationship with her therapist.

The film was in part inspired by Bronstein’s experience with her own daughter, but she didn’t want to elaborate on the specifics, with Bronstein saying, “That’s her story to tell.”

Critics hailed the film, with Collider review rating it 8/10 and writing, “If I Had Legs is the type of movie that’ll have you on the edge of your seat in even the most straightforward scenes; a film where you’ll want the tension to relent, but also compels you to ride that excruciating feeling like a wave.”
