Orlando Bloom Fights Inner Demons in ‘The Cut’ Gritty Boxing Thriller Film | Trailer

Orlando Bloom steps into the ring for one of his most intense roles yet as a retired boxer desperate for one final shot at glory, in the psychological sports thriller film The Cut.

Opposite him stands Caitríona Balfe as his steadfast partner and trainer, while John Turturro commands attention as Boz, the merciless coach who pushes limits.

Directed by Sean Ellis, The Cut world premiered at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival and opens in cinemas in the United States, UK and Ireland on September 5, 2025

After a career-ending defeat, a former champion trains for redemption – but as obsession takes hold and reality unravels, he may be spiraling into something far more terrifying.

Director Sean Ellis describes The Cut as a reimagining of what a boxing movie can be, saying in an interview, “This is essentially a boxing movie with no actual boxing, which I thought would make for an incredibly interesting look inside the sport.” He added, “The film delves into the often-overlooked aspects of boxing, shedding light on the intense behind-the-scenes struggles Boxer faces, specifically the challenge of making weight.”
