Father Mother Sister Brother and The Voice of Hind Rajab Win Top Prizes at Venice Festival

Father Mother Sister Brother by Jim Jarmusch has won the Golden Lion for Best Film at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival. The anthology film starring Tom Waits, Adam Driver, Mayim Bialik, Charlotte Rampling, Cate Blanchett, Vicky Krieps, consists of three stories on relationships between adult children, their parents and each other.

The Silver Lion – Grand Jury Prize went to The Voice of Hind Rajab by Kaouther Ben Hania which received a record-breaking 23 minutes and 50 seconds standing ovation at its premiere. The docu-drama follows the true story of Hind Rajab, a five-year-old Palestinian girl who was killed by the IDF during the Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip. It also won

Other top prize went to Benny Safdie, who won the Silver Lion – Award for Best Director for The Smashing Machine, the drama film starring Dwayne Johnson as former MMA fighter Mark Kerr, and Emily Blunt as Kerr’s then-wife Dawn Staples.
