The Road Between Us: The Ultimate Rescue is a gripping documentary directed by Barry Avrich that tells the true story of retired Israeli Defence Forces Major General Noam Tibon and his urgent mission to save his son and family during the October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks.
The film includes interviews with Noam, his wife Gali Mir-Tibon, their son Amir Tibon, daughter-in-law Miri, and other survivors, blending both personal testimonies and harrowing footage from that fateful day.
The documentary premiered at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) as part of the TIFF Docs program. The premiere was marked by controversy and protests, due to the use of live-streamed Hamas footage and debates over clearance permissions. Despite initial pushback and being temporarily pulled from the lineup, it was reinstated after negotiations. It is scheduled to open exclusively in theaters across North America on October 3, 2025, with more than 125 prints in release. The rollout includes the top 20 markets, among them New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, San Francisco, Chicago, Vancouver, Montreal, and West Palm Beach.
The film is being released theatrically by Forston Consulting in the U.S. and Cineplex Pictures in Canada.
Israeli general Noam Tibon, who on October 7, 2023, received a desperate text from his son: terrorists had stormed his home, and he, his wife, and their two young daughters feared for their lives.
