Tina Romero puts a new spin on zombies in horror with her drop-dead gorgeous directorial debut, Queens of the Dead.
If you ever wondered what you get when you mix camp and the undead, Queens of the Dead is the perfect combination of the two. Starring Katy O’ Brian (known for Love Lies Bleeding), as Dre, the trailer begins with her character planning a party with some unforeseen mishaps.
Other cast members include Jaquel Squivey, Tomas Matos, Nina West, Jack Haven, Cheyenne Jackson, Dominque Jackson, and Maraget Cho.

Directed by Tina Romero, daughter of “Night of the Living Dead” George A Romero, Queens of the Dead had its world premiere at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature. It opens in theaters on October 24th, 2025.
The film explores the current political climate while delivering an authentic representation of the LGBT+ community, “with the cast and crew being ninety-five percent queer”, said producer Natalie Metzger, in an interview with The Contending.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Romero spoke about her father’s legacy and what she wanted with her film, saying, “I am paying homage to the world and the monster he created, but I’m also introducing my own voice. It’s very much not a film he would make, but it is using his vocabulary and is playing by his rules.”
Romero continues, “I just feel like the gays need a zombie film. It’s time that we get to have a big gay zombie movie.”
