30th Busan Film Festival Winners – ‘On Your Lap’ Wins 4 Vision Awards

On Your Lap (Pangku) the Indonesian drama directed by actor Reza Rahadian in his feature directorial debut, is the big winner of the Busan Vision Awards at the 30th Busan International Film Festival, snagging 4 awards.

The film won the KB Vision Audience Award, FIPRESCI Award, Bishkek International Film Festival – Central Asia Cinema Award and Face of the Future Award.

Set during Indonesia’s 1998 economic crisis, On Your Lap follows a pregnant young woman working as a kopi pangku waitress – who sits on men’s laps as they drink coffee.

The NETPAC Award went to Malika directed by Natalia Uvarova, a drama following a twelve-year-old girl named Malika, who finds her life interrupted when her mom decides to remarry, and she is forced to go to her father’s house, as the Islamic tradition dictates.
